Our Mission

To improve athletic and life opportunities for underserved students in Washington DC and surrounding suburbs in conjunction with Georgetown Preparatory School, DC Baseball is focused on building bridges and empowering at-risk youth through a shared passion for the sport of baseball. We aim to multiply the coaching and skills clinic opportunities and provide the equipment and team sponsorships necessary to make dreams come true. We use baseball as an avenue to encourage community, invest in students, and help youth to develop the life skills that allow for success on the field and in the larger world.

about LOUIS MESSINA

IMG_8364.jpg

I'm a rising senior high school student from Darien, Connecticut attending Georgetown Preparatory School as a boarding student. I have loved baseball for as long as I can remember and have participated in every league that would have me! I also volunteer with the Challenger Baseball program, Little League’s adaptive baseball program for individuals with physical and intellectual challenges, in both Darien and in the D.C. area. From my personal experience and my time serving as a “buddy” to a Challenger participant, I have seen the positive impact baseball has on our lives.

Academically, I have been drawn to the industry of sports and specifically the possibility of one day pursuing a career as an attorney in the sports and entertainment field. I have been fortunate to meet leaders through my high school and they have helped me to see that baseball provides a meaningful avenue to connect with others. DC Baseball was launched with the vision of using baseball as a platform to contribute to the community. DC Baseball will assist schools and children with equipment and instruction in the game I love.
